From my 2021 Granny Corner file for sewing & fashion. This YSL tux with sequin lapels. Cant even believe how many screen snips of it on file, even found a fabric for it at Remnant Warehouse, thought I’d sew clear sequins all over & it’d be dead on. But wanting this blazer led to further wants surrounding black blazer project
Also want a Schiaparelli tux. And I actually actioned all this want, and cut out the Friday Pattern Company Heather Blazer in black suiting from Pitt Trading…. but it wouldn’t bond to interfacing so its in an abandoned lump in the sewing corner of shame. This enraged me, but I will triumph and re-tackle the blazer sewing because I have a secret plan within me regarding buttons and it shall OUT one fine day and then you’ll see. Oh yes, then you’ll see.
I had some ideas around tulle overlays. Simone Rocha at H&M. Golda Rosheuvel (the queen in Bridgerton), slaying everything. And off-topic, believe the genius dressing performed by Lydia West in that gorgeous black dress and see also Zawe Ashton’s fantasticness. Brilliant dresses! These women are inspiring. I wish I’d been at that awards night afterparty
I have jewellery goals to score in 2022
Pants with ankle pleat. The formatting crops these pictures but click on them to see. These trousers look very smart & I find myself willing to explore this puffy pants silhouette. I think I could probably make [another] pair of Fremantle pants but change that waistband, increase width down the length & use a poplin or drill or bengaline, something crisp yet structural that works in summer. And maybe a different pattern, one that doesn’t require such hackety
Distracted from pants thinking, by falling deeply in love with Song Joong-ki. I took these photos when watching Descendants of the Sun at night on my laptop. I go & look at them on my phone from time to time. He’s so beautiful and perfect. I love him, just like every other middle-aged woman
I’m just showing you what’s in my 2021 Granny Corner file.
But I have make this soon
Subsequently in love with all the K Dramas and I saw these nice sleeves on My Love From The Star. Loved that. The King: Eternal Monarch, my word that’s a really great one. Just great. Also Crash Landing on You. OMG I CRIED!!! Korean dramas are so good, so funny and so well dressed and FUNNY. Except when its SAD and then I CRY but its wonderful. But. Descendants of the sun. I took photos. Song Joong-ki. Lots of crying. So much love.
Lastly, I commend you to YouTube, the Atelier Saison Japanese sewing factory channel. I had minor surgery a few months ago and was in some pain for several days and all through those days and nights I watched Atelier Saison videos with a dedication that was only outdone by re-watches of Descendants of the Sun. I watched them over and over, loads and loads. I wish they had made more vids for me to watch and the one shown above, is well over three hours long. It got me through, though, and this whole year has been something to endure, at times.
Onwards with weird life and another new year
