Art Diet 2025

Rosie, artworker December 16, 2025

What I clothes this year

A few saves

Saved this

Saved this

Wear brooches this way, center front

Wear these brooches

I bought

four linen tops in Italy and this is the white one

I also like this one.

In a perfect world, I am this

Capelets are honestly really useful and this is nice

I like the growths

Excellent up-cycle via spirited and extravagant shirring

Lee Min-ho

Gorgeous Prada gown

I liked this and bought some 30cm long fringe to sew on the bottom hem of a t-shirt but no photos. I feel like I wasn’t super into fashion this year, it was all about making Topography and spending six weeks in Italy. NOT BAD.

Satin Robbie pants in Rome

— But for my sewing friends who might know these patterns, what I did make includes:

  • Two Jensen pants (one dark brown cotton drill, one floral cotton poplin! (for home wear only))

  • two modified Robbie pants (one in flannelette so comfy and one brown satin, image to the left—both lengthened and flared a bit at the side seams)

  • one Athina top (really dark blue gorgeous linen that I sewed with the wrong side accidentally outside)

  • two Cora tops (one white cotton seersucker (dont like it) and one black velvet - image to left)

  • one Cuff top in (string linen) (amazing I only made one cuff top)

  • one Ellis t-shirt 3/4 sleeves (plum & white stripey jersey love it)

  • Barry pants the night before we left for Italy in a beautiful black textured cotton sateen that I’d had for ages. Then what happened was, I was back home in the studio, accidentally wearing these pants, when I sat on the floor to do something except the floor had some uncatalysed epoxy resin on it. Therefore I need to make more Barry pants/ continue exploring the Robbie pants design

I still might make this Simplicity top for Christmas day in a linen voile I think will be nice. I’m going to a sewing friends lunch tomorrow! Ideally I would’ve made this for the occasion

LOTS OF PIES. I caught a passing interest in pastry making and I took that interest forward to Italy

The grocer’s ciggie. So Europe.

The produce market in Greve, near where our friends live. I bought strawberries and pears and melon for a butter-crust tart with mascarpone, and plums for a short-crust galette with thyme and vanilla bean. Both so good!

Friends!

Everything was good here!

Pizza oven!

Grateful to be with friends

Swear to God this is really what it looks like when the sun is going down in Tuscany!! The light hits the stone and its kind of shocking. Paradise.

Arezzo2.jpg

Then in Arezzo at a super local restaurant that the guy in the BnB told us about, excellent food and puppies welcome

Super good barely seared pounded veal ‘steak’ with an olivey-herby-eschaloty garnish. Memorable.

Lovely place to eat in Pienza

we loved it here

Like a pie but lazier

We spent two weeks of our stay in Italy at an ‘agritourismo’ in Tuscany, near Buonconvento. We wanted full immersion experience of Europe; being part of life, not being from far away. So we stayed at this beautiful place for some time and met some wonderful people. We shopped at the local produce markets and cooked and ate and drove around seeing places. In Buonconvento I made this plum shortcake, a pear and hazelnut tart, a tiramisu with mascarpone from the local co-op and a pear and hazelnut cake that was stupendo!

tiramisu + local hazelnuts

Agritouismo’s are in the interests of bringing people back to repopulate and support rural areas, with previous generations having left it for want of opportunity. The farm houses are phenomenal, the countryside is breathtaking and we met some wonderful people to whom I will be grateful the rest of my life for their generosity and good will. Walking over to the farm house in the afternoon bearing a slice of cake to share. Beautiful time.

Its true. Its all true. Literally at the front door

Trust me it was

cooking wine IN THE SUPERMARKET

MozZarella in bags

Porcini in the supermarket with dirt still on them

Lovely place to eat in Montalcino

Lovely place to eat in San Gim

Bar Sport! Theres always a Bar Sport and they’re never about being a lovely place, just great coffee. Having had coffee here every morning for two weeks, they smiled and were friendly with us on day 12

Lovely place to eat in Bibbiano

Lovely place to eat in Radda with friends and I love them so much.

Another time the light hit the stones

We had Bistecca Fiorentina!

I’ll go to my grave loving this place. Almost cant believe the time we had

Sorry this turned into an Italy dump but food is important there.

What I sold this year

I did a few markets selling jewellery which continues to bring me joy and keeps the studio humming. Doing the work got to do the work and keep it going. Additionally there are some things I was involved in but cant talk about.

A favorite

Two favorites

Caught a nice shot of these

And thats it for 2025’s business report

Work I would draw your attention to this year

After the Rain #2

This piece, finally resolved with 2mm curb chain

Rejected by numerous art prizes and this topsy turvy world is an upsidedown mystery isnt it

What I everything else

Brisbane. Theres always

As mentioned previously, just about everything else is all about making the Topography piece, information about which litters this website and you cant have missed it.

So I’m gonna let you go now and finish with some more Italy pics. With all the art and architecture we saw, landscapes and people hold the most but I cant show pictures of people and the landscape doesnt need them

See you next year
