Reticule, travel pouch, OPERA BAGS, "Opera coat for your stupid phone"

Been thinking about making these for a while, then Concorde settled it (sorr you have to be a subscriber to read in full but excerpts above)

This is my grandmother’s hand beaded reticule, the only part of her I’ve ever had and I’ve had this always, it lives in a cabinet I see daily. I’m told she made it from a kit, as had been in vogue in her youth. The insides have almost disintegrated and its heart-breaking in a beautiful way. I love it so much & I’m so proud to have it

I’m making reticules now

Lady McElroy fabric

  • I watched several nights of bag sewing youtube vids and completely fallen for all of them

  • I had randomly added some bamboo hardware to one of my Alibaba jewellery orders previously and Lord knows I have fabric

  • Bags! And make them reticules!

  • I had the necessaries !

Covered magnets for closures

Lined in the most delicious viscose satin twill, I could eat it. I couldnt bear any kind of closure marring the visuals so I covered some magnets in the same fabric and they’re super neat

Mother of pearl quatrefoil charm. Cant help myself.

Reversible. Custom made bamboo tassel

Such a pleasure to sew. They’re so teeny! So luxe!

Always a smart arse

Yep

This chartreuse viscose twill is edible

Some hand sewing req

It took quite a few trials with scrap fabric to finalise the design

it worked!

A different take on closure; a press stud is hidden in the folds which then tucks beautifully inside the bamboo fixture

Ok another four things:

  • I have a big fabric collection and a can-do attitude

  • there wont be a big financial return on this but its a civic duty kind of deal.

  • bc we need them.

  • available to purchase in the Souvenir shop!
