Artworking; August - September 2024

Rosie, artworker August 21, 2024

I had an attack of lackadaisical some weeks ago and its keeping me. I’ve done things and made things and looked after my family but also spent a lot of time being down. The relentless creative machine has slowed. My mother-in-law died. My drive is low.

Flowers from our garden

It was just the four of us at the funeral, the others are in Europe. There will be a memorial down the track but that was a tough time. We sat with her for four days while she left. She has always been a huge part of our lives and everything will change now

Visiting the foundry was a lift but as usual I cant show anything because NDA client. But spoiler its a metal thing

Also I had the most successful market at The Coal Loader I’ve ever done, which was a surprise given the location of my stall; I almost didn’t even go, the night before I said I cant do it. But I did, and it was pretty amazing result. The fire for markets has been waning so this feels good. Thank you if you came along!

The shop has been going pretty well and Ive been there a bit

We painted the feature wall (left) to a lovely deep blue (right) which has had a Tardis effect, it looks bigger, more spacious now

And I am very happy with my new product idea. I have a few more samples coming from the factory in China to finalise the supplier then boom, Christmas markets. Great produce/ beach/ extra carry bag, they’re waterproof and well made and BAMBOO HANDLES and look great.

I’m using couturier chain, typically used to weight the hem of jackets, classically Chanel. The juxtaposition is cool, Chanel/hessian bag Chanel/produce bag, it writes itself lol. And its good to use the odd quatrefoils, the ones without matches for making earrings as classy bag charms. Having a hard time fending off the urge to add tassels.

Happy with the new couch and cushions! I have been spending a lot of days on it.

I have nothing to be sorry for, there’s no reason for my…stalling, but I think its been coming. Its all too much, I exhaust me. Every day I wait for the day to end.

I respectfully acknowledge the Guringay people, the traditional custodians of the land that is now called Ku-ring-gai, and pay my respects to elders past, present, and those to come. I extend my respect to elders and members of the Darug nation, and to all Indigenous people who may be reading these words

Fellow travellers, thank you for visiting
