It was my birthday in December and look at these beautiful Japanese brass clamps, I have wanted these for a long, long time & getting them for birthday was so happy! Aren’t they gorgeous?
I made these from cast plaster after I had made the individual MDF ones purely because I could and getting into some silicone mold making & plaster casting is like going home, skill wise & then I wondered wtf should I do with them and then I thought, what would a Capitalist do? The answer, of course, is greeting cards. So everyone gets an opportunity to behold them. So far, zero sales but I have given heaps away. Life of an artist. I wrote an accompanied card to encourage understanding:
“My beautiful Heartsease ornaments, a unique artefact handmade in the Pre-Raphaelite style [here]
Shakespeare referenced Heartsease flowers in Hamlet and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, as a symbol of thought…that someone might think of you. Heartsease is as it sounds. Rest and look to your heart, perhaps think of me as I think of you. Or, in the case of lovers, upon your beloved.
Known, as I am, for wanton distribution of gold leaf, I say gold because I love gold, it means purity of thought and intention, it means inviolable authority, it means absolute law, it is the most precious of all things and it is always good. It is love.
As seen in the photo above this, I gave some cards where they’re tied on with cord so that they may be removed & used as Xmas tree decorations. People actually did this
Nice? Yes, nice. HERE
At the end of this December, the fires rage on & increase, waiting for God to put them out. I’ve prayed a great deal over this.
Sewing. I quite like these pants by Loewe. Pattern Fantastique Terra pants or Trend Patterns utility trousers? Also thinking about an unlined linen men’s blazer. This is likely to remain just a thought. Blazer sewing fear & I have so much other stuff to do. But it’d be nice, this one is Vogue Patterns V8988. The delpozo skirt is cunningly done, I’ll apply myself to figuring it out but in a stretch fabric. Solid woven taffeta is no-no. These days…
Last bit of art for 2019 and its in a shopping center. There’s no reason why it shouldn’t be there and we should have more of it. Caroline’s luxe large scale prints here, for those who would like to take some home
Temporary corridor installation, very large scale prints. Wonderful work. Lobbying to have them re-housed & on permanent display
